Term 1 week 7 - Minibeasts

At the end of last week we went onto the school field to set some minibeast traps

Unfortunately they got taken down during the weekend....but never fear! We found more minibeasts in the compost bin by the school garden :).

Mrs Law collected some of them up for us to have a closer look at. WOW! There were black, shiny beetles, earwigs that ran away to hide under the bits of soil, wiggly worms and LOTS of ants!
We used this experience in our writing this week - trying to think of great describing words (adjectives) to make our stories more interesting.

We then made some minibeast masks - bees, ladybirds and butterflies. Have a look at our blog next week to see the finished products!

At the start of the week it looked like autumn had really kicked in, but we were so lucky on Friday with blue skies and sunshine! To celebrate we joined Rooms 4 and 5 in a massive water fight! It was great fun and certainly helped us cool off :).
