New Year....new class

Kia ora and welcome to Room 3's blog.

The aim of this is to share with you some of what we do in class each week, celebrate our learning and let you know about important dates and events that are coming up,

Day to day school life:
Each Monday your child will bring home the week's newsletter/homework sheet (From week 2 it will be in their book of the same name).  Please read this as it may contain more information than on here. Newsletter/homework books will be collected in on a Friday so that the following week's sheet can be stuck in ready for Monday.

Homework:
I want you child to reach their maximum potential, which does mean that they will need to practise what they learn in class at home. This will not take long each night and is meant to be fun.

Hats:
All children need to have school brimmed hats (bucket or stiffer brimmed ones) EVERY day in term 1. This is to make sure that they stay sun safe and protect their skin. Hats (Green) can be bought from Postie or the Warehouse.

Water Bottles:
Please make sure that your child has a named water bottle every day which can be kept in the class buckets. Learning can be thirsty work!

School Stationery:
Thank you to all of you who have your child's stationery ready for the start of term. It certainly makes my life setting them up for the year a lot easier! If you have not got it yet, please see me, or get a list from the school office. They also carry supplies of stationery that can be purchased and delivered direct to Room 3.

Reading Folders:
Please make sure your child has a reading folder. These have lots of use throughout the year - for bringing reading and library books home, school and class notices etc. Please check them each night and regularly clear out old notices!

Term Dates 2017:
Term 1:   Tue 31 Jan - Thur 13 April
Term 2:   Mon 1 May - Fri 7 July
Term 3:   Mon 24 July - Fri 29 Sept
Term 4:   Mon 16 Oct - Fri 15 Dec

I look forward to getting to know your child and your whanau this year and I value your input, thoughts and ideas. Please feel free to comment using the link at the bottom of each post.

Nga mihi nui ki a koutou.
Ali Law - Teacher Room 3
